Piracy, smuggling and probably murder, bribery and assorted other nastiness too.

Connection: Actual birth place is uncertain but by all accounts he seems to have originated from South Wales in the mid 1500's. He used his knowledge of the coastline and his contacts there to further his career. Apparently much of his booty was fenced in Wales.

He used his knowledge of the coastline and his contacts there to further his career. Apparently much of his booty was fenced in Wales. You might say Callice is an unsung anti-hero. He was certainly well connected, according to some sources he was even commissioned by the admiralty and on a number of occasions saved by Royal intervention! Fleeing debtors he relocated to North Africa in the region known then as the Barbary States. He met his end on a mission in the Mediterranean in during the 1580's.
