Joseph Willicombe, media personality with a connection to Wales (Trellech, Monmouthshire)

Joseph Willicombe

Chief reporter and later private secretary to William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951), American publisher and political figure, who built the country’s largest chain of newspapers. Joe was known as the colonel, in recognition of his distinguished military service during the first world war.
Connection: Father emigrated with his two brothers, from Trellech, Monmouth, in the 1860s.
