Is this the same Thomas Ellis who has a statue dedicated to him somewhere in Wales? Did this man ever run for prime minister? Would appreciate any information on this. Thanks.

My grandfather, Thomas Ellis Jones of Llanrwst, after whom I am named was Tom Ellis's cousin, I believe.

The statue of Thomas Edward Ellis is situated at the north End of High Street, Bala and was unveiled in 1902. It depicts Thomas Ellis as a standing figure in ceremonial gown, left arm raised, right arm lowered and holding sheaf of papers. Carved relief panels depict old college at university of Wales Aberystwyth, Houses of Parliament London, New College Oxford and his birthplace at Cynlas north of Bala.

Thomas Edward Ellis was my great great uncle. I am trying desperately to do a family tree and am finding it very hard to trace back from his family. Help anyone?
