With the last bowl of the game he nicked the jack to break the hearts of Pont who were three times in a row champions. There hadn't been so many tears in Pont since Richard Burton died. John commented after the game 'I got off the bus this morning a mere mortal, I'm now getting on the bus 'a living god'.
