Robert Cornish

Attended Grangetown Council School; Canton High School and the graduated at the University College Cardiff. He represented Welsh schools and served in the Royal Navy during the first world war.

Played rugby for Cardiff (scored a hundred and forty-nine tries) and for Wales in the 'Centenary of Rugby' match at Rugby School in 1923. Chairman and secretary of Cardiff and chairman of the Welsh selectors. The nephew of Fred Cornish capped four times for Wales between 1897 and 1899. He died in Cardiff in 1948.

A rugby playing family with six members playing rugby for Cardiff! Cornish Close, off ferry road, near Cardiff Bay was named in recognition of the family's contribution.

Robert Arthur was my mother's cousin. She is Peggy nee Cornish and is now in her eighties and is keen to learn as much as possible about her 'Cardiff relations' any further information you have would be very welcome.
