John Owen

Non-conformist church leader and theologian. Chaplain to Oliver Cromwell, who was also of Welsh descent. Dr Owen's most important work was his treatise on evangelical church governance. The majority of Owen's voluminous works are still in print.
Connection: John Owen was of a family of high rank and reputation in Wales. Grandson of Lewis Owen, Vice-Chamberlain and Baron of the Exchequer in North Wales, and High Sheriff of the county of Merioneth.
